The Family Education Trust, working under its operational title,
Family and Youth Concern, is a national UK organisation with no
political or religious affiliations. Its Trustees are assisted by
an Executive Committee which is elected annually at a national conference.
It is financed entirely by members’ subscriptions and donations
and administered by voluntary officers and salaried staff.
Family and Youth Concern (FYC) was founded in the early 1970s by
Dr Stanley Ellison, a London GP, who became aware that many of the
symptoms from which his patients were suffering were not unavoidable
medical conditions, but from the consequences of the breakdown in
family life. Among its founder members were people eminent in the
fields of medicine, education and sociology.
